Telephone Music 1986 release by Philip Sanderson,

Telephone Music 1986 release by Philip Sanderson, with Storm Bugs partner, Steven Ball and Michael Denton.

The tape compiled collaborative and solo tracks by PhilipSanderson & Michael Denton from bertween 1981 and 1986, plus the track 'Apostrophe S' by Philip Sanderson & Steven Ball (with flute by David Jackman). The tape came in two sleeves, a white 7-inch single sleeve (sealed using brown parcel tape) with a grey photocopied label on the front and back and a design with the camouflage plyers. 'Maps', 'Drinks and Aeroplanes', and 'Spy Garden' (retitled as 'Tale Chase') were re-issued in 2018 on the LP On One of These Bends.

Direct from Philip "Snatch Tapes" Sanderson himself we get to geek out over the last remaining copy of the "Snatch Paste" compilation on Vinyl On Demand, plus a signed white label test pressing of the "A Safe Substitute" LP released on Harbinger Records.

The third and last Snatch Tapes compilation. The tracks 'O North' and 'Ashes and Diamonds', here credited to Ice Yacht and Claire Thomas respectively, were later to appear on the Sanderson/Jackman O North tape (AR4). 'Ashes & Diamonds' was mixed by Sanderson using a flute loop made with David Jackman, snippets of vocals by Nancy Slessinger (who sang on 'Bright Waves') all fed through a Revox tape delay. '0 North' is a mix of the drum loop from the Storm Bugs single 'Tin' with Esraj by David Jackman (a slowed down version of the 'Blues' track also found on the tape.

Orior were an ambient electronic duo comprising 'Clip' and Phil Hollins who released one single on the Crystal Groove label, and recorded an LP which was not released until 2016 as Strange Beauty. Nigel Jacklin released a number of tapes under the Alien Brains title many of which were subsequently re-issued by Vinyl on Demand as as a boxset.

To accompany Snatch 3 there was a screenprinted A0 poster by Philip Sanderson & Michael Denton. The Orior, David Jackman ('Blues'), and Nigel Jacklin tracks were re-issued on the Snatch Paste LP in 2006. Also included on the LP was an alternative version of the 'Ashes & Diamonds' track called 'Diamonds & Ashes'.

David Jackman & Philip Sanderson - O North
Fascinating post-Snatch Tapes release which features many tracks created during the earlier Westbourne Terrace era.

Released on David Jackman's Aeroplane records, O North contains collaborative and solo recordings by Jackman & Sanderson. Soon after meeting in 1980 Jackman & Sanderson recorded a number of pieces in Sanderson's basement flat in Paddington, London. This produced three tracks all with the working title of 'Terrain'. Terrain 1 is included here, Terrain 2 was not released until 2002 when it came out on 10-inch vinyl on Die Stadt. The third 'Terrain' track was subsequently titled 'Offshore' and included on the Ritual tape.

'Ashes & Diamonds' combines a flute loop made by Jackman & Sanderson during the above sessions plus vocals by Nancy Slessinger and percussion by Sanderson fed through a Revox tape delay set up. 'Zero Degrees North' is a mix of the drum loop from the Storm Bugs single 'Tin' with Esraj by David Jackman (a slowed down version of the 'Blues' track found on Snatch 3. 'Under Press of Sail' is a Sanderson solo track originally released in 1979 on Snatch 1, and 'Fade of Light' is a Jackman solo track.
